Hi there,
My name is Zach Alvira, I am a dynamic and results-driven marketing and communications professional with over 10 years of diverse experience in sports journalism, content creation, sales and social media management. I have a proven track record of enhancing online presence, managing content and developing engaging marketing strategies. Adept at leading teams, building strong media relationships and leveraging social media to boost brand visibility.
In my current full-time role as Communications Editor at Ability360, I oversee and manage all written content for our marketing department. This involves administering our social media channels, collaborating with department leads on blog posts and ensuring that our content aligns with brand messaging. My role has sharpened my ability to create compelling, high-quality content and implement effective content strategies that drive engagement and enhance our online presence. Additionally, my role has allowed me the opportunity to interact with various athletes at the Ability360 Sports & Fitness Center, where Paralympic hopefuls, current and former athletes train. I have also built interpersonal relationships with consumers in the form of cold calling for stories, quotes, various information and other items as needed for my position.
In my part-time roles, I oversee sports content for Hypamark Sports and previously taught a 300-level sports journalism class at the prestigious Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communications at Arizona State University. I was also a contributing writer for Sports360AZ, covering the Arizona Cardinals, and a radio co-host for the AZPreps365 Saturday Morning Show. These roles have helped me hone in on my ability to create compelling content that resonates with diverse audiences while ensuring high standards of accuracy and relevance while managing students, interns and other employees.
Previously, as Sports Editor at Times Media Group, I was responsible for delivering in-depth sports coverage, managing the online presence and supervising a team of interns and freelancers. I developed and maintained the sports section of our website, ensuring daily updates with fresh and relevant content. I became one of the top insiders for high school sports in Arizona, rivaling the Arizona Republic, a Gannett publication, and its three-man team of writers. I worked diligently to chase unique angles, breaking news and was the first with multiple ground-breaking stories in Arizona.
My earlier roles as a Sales Specialist at Best Buy, Web Content Editor/Writer at Bonneville International, and Sports Reporter at Cronkite News provided a solid foundation in customer engagement, content strategy, and multimedia production. These experiences have refined my ability to connect with audiences, develop impactful content, manage multiple projects effectively and elevate effectiveness.
I believe my skills of interpersonal relationship building would help me succeed in this role, where I will be required to gather sources and maintain those relationships. My experience as an editor and reporter has given me the skills and knowledge to exceed expectations on the Broncos beat. Overall, my best trait is my dedication to my work. I strive to deliver high-quality content while on deadline, and my love for sports has allowed me to become successful so far in my career.
